As part of Royal Caribbean’s Vision class of ships, the Vision of the Seas is equipped with all the amenities to make your experience smooth sailing. Kick back in a private stateroom, sun under the glass-canopied Solarium, enjoy fine dining and a Broadway-style show or even take a swing at the mini golf course.

This itinerary includes the following countries: Croatia, Turkey, Greece and Italy. In order to enter these countries, U.S. and Canadian citizens need a valid passport. The expiration date must extend at least six months beyond the date of your return home. If you are not a U.S. or Canadian citizen, you must contact each country’s consulate for your specific entry requirements. You will not need a visa to visit Turkey during your visit to Ephesus.

Airlines have varying weight restrictions on luggage. Some airlines may impose additional charges if you choose to check any baggage; be advised that you are responsible for any such costs. Contact your airline for detailed information regarding luggage size and weight restrictions for your flight, but please note that Go Ahead travelers are restricted to one checked bag per person due to storage limitations on motor coaches and other internal transfers, which may include train connections or flights. One carry-on bag is also permitted, provided that it does not exceed 45 total inches (length + width + height). Make sure you label your baggage and carry valuables, medication and documents in your carry-on bag.

Comfortable, loose-fitting clothing that can be layered to accommodate temperature changes is recommended, along with a sun hat, sunglasses, bathing suit and a sturdy pair of walking shoes or sneakers. It’s always a good idea to be prepared for any eventuality—a warm sports jacket and emergency rainwear are advised. You might also wish to bring a pair of binoculars for viewing scenery. This cruise includes two formal nights. Most men opt for a dark suit instead of a tuxedo, and women choose cocktail dresses rather than lavish gowns. The remaining nights are casual, or smart casual with sport shirts and slacks recommended for men, and skirts, khakis or casual dress for women.

There are no major health risks when traveling to Croatia, Turkey, Greece and Italy. During the summer, take proper care for sun exposure. Also, codeine (found in many headache medicines) is banned in Greece, and you may face prosecution if you bring it into the country. It is advisable to check with your health care provider for the latest updates and overseas travel recommendations.

While most of the staples of the Italian diet have already become favorites in America, be sure to try those less familiar pasta sauces and the vast range of cured hams, cheeses, rustic breads and desserts while on tour. Venice and Northern Italy are known for their meats and pastries, while Rome and Southern Italy are known for their pizzas. For more authentic meals, try local trattorias, small, family-owned restaurants that tend to be set away from the main piazzas and squares.

Croatian food is very good and very hearty. Along the Adriatic coast, you’ll find excellent seafood. Croatia is also well known for its wine varietals.

Turkish food is invariably fresh and very carefully prepared. On the coast, fish is an excellent choice, especially tuna, turbot and sardines. Meat eaters should try lamb kebabs, available in a wide variety of types, each with a different sauce or dressing. Turkish coffee is extremely strong and thick.

Greece’s climate ensures a constant supply of high-quality fresh fruits and vegetables. Salads are excellent here, served with olive oil and topped with feta cheese and oregano. Grilled fish and meat are also a staple. Barbecued lamb, octopus, spinach and cheese pies, baked eggplant and zucchini are other delicious dishes.

Breakfast and lunch are open seating in the ship’s dining room, and dinner is served at two seatings (6:30 and 8:30). If you do not get the dinner seating you would like, please speak to the dining room maitre d’ at the earliest opportunity. He will do his best to accommodate you. Dining preference is confirmed upon check-in at the terminal. Other complimentary dining options include the Windjammer Café and room service. You’ll also find cafes and several different restaurants serving everything from Italian fare to sushi to steak on board the ship.

Be sure to ask cruise representatives about shore excursions, as some are quite walking intensive. Also, please be advised that passengers who do not choose to partake in shore excursions are typically the last to disembark in that day’s port.
